The VP of Sales Strategy is an executive role responsible for shaping how MUSH grows; what we sell, where we win, how we invest, and how we partner with customers. This role is designed for a senior CPG leader who wants true ownership, and the opportunity to build the strategy engine of a fast-growing, mission-driven brand. Job Summary: The VP of Sales Strategy will own MUSH’s portfolio, category, and customer growth strategy, translating consumer, shopper, and financial insights into clear decisions and executable plans. This leader will serve as the strategic partner to Sales, Marketing, Innovation, and Finance, ensuring that portfolio choices, pricing architecture, and trade investments drive profitable and sustainable growth. The successful candidate is a driver. This person will work cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Operations and Finance to drive actionable insights, product assortments, and profitable growth across all categories. The VP of Sales Strategy will influence and make clear decisions for the company’s ambitious growth targets and will be responsible for building and leading a high‑impact Strategy & Category Management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in CPG strategy, category management, sales strategy, or portfolio leadership
  • Proven experience partnering closely with Sales and influencing customer outcomes
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&Ls, pricing, and trade investment
  • Track record of translating insights into clear decisions and commercial results
  • Experience building and leading teams in fast‑paced, growth environments
  • Exceptional communicator and influencer at the executive and customer level
  • Excellent teammate skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Field Sales experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio & Category Strategy: Own the 3–5 year portfolio and category vision, including assortment, price pack architecture, and portfolio optimization decisions that drive profitable growth.
  • Customer & Sales Strategy: Own customer and channel growth strategies, serving as the voice of category in strategic customer engagements and elevating MUSH’s sales storytelling.
  • Insights-Led Growth: Own the translation of consumer, shopper, and market insights into actionable strategies that unlock opportunities and accelerate growth.
  • Innovation & Portfolio Management: Own strategic partnership with R&D and Marketing to guide new product launches, lifecycle management, and SKU rationalization.
  • Leadership & Team Building: Own the build, development, and leadership of a high-performing Sales Strategy & Category Management team.
  • Sales Planning Development: Work closely with the finance team to own the gross sales and net sales forecast and continuous tracking to target; understanding drivers, drags, opportunities and risks
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, product development, and finance teams to translate strategic insights into actionable plans that drive growth and profitability across all product categories.
  • Financial Performance Management: Analyze financial performance and KPIs for each category and portfolio segment, providing recommendations to optimize pricing, margins, and promotional effectiveness.
