The Marketing Team fuels PetSmart’s position as the favorite pet retailer by helping everyone experience more joy with pets. Rooted in a deep understanding of what motivates pet parents to choose PetSmart, the team is responsible for driving traffic and sales to PetSmart’s industry leading in-store and digital experience. By delivering personalized, data-driven marketing, the team plays a critical role in accelerating sales, strengthening customer loyalty, and fueling long-term business growth. This role is based at PetSmart’s Phoenix Home Office, where associates currently enjoy the benefits of in-person collaboration while having the flexibility to work remotely one day per week (a “flex workday” with leader approval), and an expected four days in the office. The Vice President, Omnichannel Marketing is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for driving PetSmart’s Omnichannel Marketing Organization. This role leads the marketing channels that unites brand strategy, omni-channel campaign development, and consumer experience to accelerate brand relevance, loyalty, and business growth. The Vice President will define how PetSmart shows up to customers across channels—building a cohesive, insight-driven marketing ecosystem that fuels traffic, drives conversion, and deepens emotional connection with pet parents. This leader partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team, cross-functional partners, and external agencies to deliver innovative marketing programs that reflect PetSmart’s leadership in the pet category and its vision to be the favorite pet retailer.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior strategic or enterprise marketing role.
  • Proven success leading integrated marketing campaigns for a large-scale, multi-channel retail or consumer brand.
  • Deep expertise in omni-channel marketing strategy, brand storytelling, paid media, CRM, and experiential retail marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer insights into impactful commercial strategies.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with a track record of managing significant marketing investments and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership presence, communication skills, and ability to influence across all organizational levels.
  • Experience leading large teams and agency partnerships in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop integrated marketing plans that connect brand storytelling, customer engagement, and commercial objectives across owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Drive the omnichannel marketing strategy to bring customers the value proposition of PetSmart as a leading online retailer, with a wide range of services, experiences, and products in store.
  • Manage marketing investment and have accountability for driving traffic and sales at a strong return on investment.
  • Champion the development of omni-channel campaigns and experiences that drive awareness, traffic, conversion, and loyalty across eCommerce and retail stores.
  • Lead strategic relationships with agency and media partners to deliver best-in-class marketing performance.
  • Advance the integration of data, CRM, and analytics into marketing decision-making to optimize performance and personalization.
  • Partner with Merchandising, eCommerce, Store Operations, Services, Loyalty, and Private Brands to create integrated customer journeys that align with enterprise growth priorities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Creative, and Public Relations to ensure message consistency, authenticity, and brand coherence across all customer and associate touchpoints.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure disciplined investment management and deliver strong ROI from marketing initiatives.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Build organizational capability in integrated marketing strategy, customer engagement, and data-driven storytelling.
  • Serve as a key leader within the Marketing leadership team, helping shape the department’s strategy, operating model, and culture.
