Redbarn Pet Products was co-founded in 1996 by lifelong friends Jeff Baikie and Howie Bloxam, who met as 12-year-olds on a hockey rink in Canada. Inspired by a shared passion for wholesome, high-quality dog food, they built a company that has grown to a family of 500 members, offering over 200 foods, treats, and chews. We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Vice President of Sales with deep expertise in the retail sector, including food, drug, mass, and club channels. In this executive role, you will lead sales strategy and operations to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and build strong partnerships with key retailers. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who leverages data-driven insights, manages high-performing teams, and consistently delivers exceptional results. You will play a pivotal role in shaping go-to-market strategies, aligning sales initiatives with business objectives, and achieving aggressive growth targets in a competitive retail landscape.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in retail, with at least 5 years at a senior executive level.
  • Proven expertise in food, drug, mass, and club channels with a track record of multimillion-dollar revenue growth.
  • Experience managing large, geographically dispersed teams (20+ members) and exceeding targets.
  • Exceptional team leadership, performance management, and talent development.
  • Advanced data analysis and CRM proficiency (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SAP, IRI, Perenso).
  • Strong results orientation, strategic thinking, and market foresight.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder influence skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies tailored to specialty, FDMC (food, drug, mass, club), and other retail channels.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sales directors and account managers, fostering a high-performance, results-oriented culture.
  • Utilize advanced analytics to track performance, forecast trends, optimize pricing, promotions, and inventory.
  • Drive sales growth in targeted channels, including specialty pet retailers, grocery chains, mass merchandisers, and club store.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key retail partners to drive loyalty, upsell opportunities, and contract negotiations.
  • Implement robust reporting frameworks and present insights to senior leadership.
  • Champion innovative sales tools and processes to improve efficiency and forecasting accuracy.
  • Manage sales budgets, resource allocation, and expense controls.
  • Travel up to 65% for customer visits, trade shows, and industry events, operating from the Long Beach office.
