About The Position

Reporting to the President, the VP of Operations leads manufacturing strategy and serves on the executive leadership team. This role provides strategic vision and coaching while championing the manufacturing function through long-range planning and process improvement. By monitoring performance metrics and tracking progress, the VP ensures operational excellence and reports key outcomes quarterly to the board.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a degree in Engineering or Business (MBA preferred) and 15+ years of progressive manufacturing experience in both large OEM and small custom settings.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Deep experience deploying Lean initiatives and fostering a continuous improvement culture.
  • Demonstrated skill in financial management, budgeting, and analyzing financial variance trends to drive performance.
  • Extensive experience in production planning, managing complex manufacturing processes, and identifying or mitigating downtime.
  • Proven success managing and coaching operations staff and building high-performing teams.
  • A demonstrated record of accomplishment achieving results against a comprehensive set of KPIs.
  • Experience in long-range strategic planning and presenting operational data to all levels of the company, from the plant floor to the Board of Directors.

  • Experience in metal fabrication is highly valued, though equivalent combinations of education and expertise will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the executive team and a key contributor to the Long-Range Planning process.
  • Oversee the following departments: Quality, Shipping, Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance.
  • Set high-level goals and accountabilities for all areas of operations.
  • Meet or exceed mutually agreed-upon goals, including sales and margin metrics within each business unit.
  • Drive major partner initiatives including joint ventures, affiliations, and relationships with sub-contractors.
  • Manage workload, performance, and year-over-year functional improvement with high confidence.
  • Represent the company in ways consistent with core values of honesty, integrity, respect, and exceptional work ethic.
  • Deliver dynamic communications and presentations to all levels of the business.
  • Responsible for supporting the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Support new customer programs and execute strategies for new services introduction to meet growth initiatives.
  • Understand and recommend systems, technology, capital, and automation to continuously improve capabilities.
  • Support current customer processes to foster a philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Improve quality processes within each business unit, ranging from inspection and auditing to employee training.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce quality costs to less than 1.5% of revenue for the contract business.
  • Provide ongoing training that reinforces the company's value proposition and quality standards for customers.
  • Lead the initiative to get the Lakeville facility fully operational as a complete system.
  • Direct maintenance functions to ensure facility readiness and equipment reliability across production locations.
  • Quickly adjust facility and maintenance priorities to meet shifting business and market needs.
  • Continue to develop and refine the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process within each business unit.
  • Monitor customer on-time performance and identify opportunities for improvement within the functions.
  • Efficiently organize scheduling functions to support current production and projected growth.
  • Responsible for all operations processes and procedures, ensuring the optimization of each function.
  • Define, drive, and track performance metrics (KPIs) in each of the manufacturing functions.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with both customers and suppliers.
  • Plan, execute, and measure performance to ensure market penetration and profitable growth.
  • Interact with contract customers as needed to ensure operational alignment.
