About The Position

The Vice President of Operations leads all activities within the Operations organization supporting profitable and sustainable growth needed to meet the strategic needs of the organization. The span of control includes oversight of plant production (3 locations), field engineering services business, EH&S, Engineering, Facilities strategy, DLA contract, Supply Chain, Planning and Procurement functions, and Hudson’s Sustainability initiatives. The position has seven direct and over 100 indirect staff, reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations.

Requirements

  • Flexible and able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and able to work independently while participating as an engaged team member.
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization.
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • At least 10 years of industry-related Operations experience including at least three years in an executive or leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and incentivizing a diverse team across multiple locations and functions.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
  • Effective people management skills and experience building organization human capital.
  • Experience managing factory automation initiatives and plant repositioning.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science, Chemistry, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related science discipline
  • The position is based in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, or one of the operating plants.
  • Some Remote work is possible. Domestic travel is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the HVAC/R industry and/or compressed gas industries is an advantage
  • Master’s Business Administration preferred
  • Lean/six sigma (black belt) or similar experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with executive leadership team and functional leaders to create and execute strategies and policies designed to advance the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate, communicate, and implement the strategic direction of the organization’s Operations division including but not limited to:
  • Leads Hudson’s Safety and Quality programs, within the EH&S department, including an emphasis on workplace safety and building a positive work environment for all employees.
  • Drives employee engagement at all levels through performance management, succession planning, recruitment support and talent development.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance and good product and environmental stewardship.
  • Achieves Operational performance objectives through data-driven decision making, metrics and load balancing linked to demand planning and SIOP cycles.
  • Directs strategic decisions concerning site locations, leasing, automation, and investment and Hudson’s emergency response management.
  • In close coordination with Sales, manages Hudson’s team of field service technicians to ensure successful and safe completion of sales projects to deliver customer satisfaction.
  • In close coordination with Finance, manages Hudson’s Carbon Credit sales and supports, designs, and helps execute the company’s larger Sustainability goals.
  • Manages and controls inventory levels to proscribed levels including large third-party distribution network.
  • Performs quarterly asset impairment analysis and reports to CFO.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and operational excellence, including innovation initiatives like workplace automation and new separation technology.
  • Defines and manages departmental Salary, OPEX, and CAPEX budgets.
  • Drives annual compensation planning and merit increases.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and departmental staffing requirements.
  • Signing authority and management of direct and indirect procurement activity
  • Has input into strategic raw materials sourcing and long-term sales agreements
  • May represent the Company and/or Operations at industry events, with regulators, strategic suppliers, and the Board of Directors.
