About The Position

The Vice President, Head of Corporate Functions Technology is accountable for the strategy, planning, delivery, and operational performance of a large, diverse portfolio of internally facing applications (~200) supporting Finance, HR, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Risk, and Compliance. This leadership position is at the center of business outcomes, employee experience, and powering value realization through technology, data, and AI. The role proactively and holistically engages key business leaders and technology stakeholders in converting business strategies into prioritized, business-aligned technology portfolio that shapes future-state capabilities and enables targeted business objectives. The leader will balance business needs with innovation, operational rigor, systems stability, security, compliance, and cost efficiency. Operating within a large, federated enterprise, this role requires strong leadership presence, organizational awareness, and influence. The role plays a key leadership role in regulatory, audit, and risk engagements related to corporate functions technology.

Requirements

  • Senior technology leadership experience within a large, complex enterprise, with demonstrated success operating across federated or matrixed operating models.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influence skills, with the ability to navigate organizational complexity and competing priorities.
  • Proven track record of end-to-end ownership of large, business-critical application portfolios, with accountability for strategy, delivery, operations, financial management, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Broad experience leading technology portfolios supporting corporate functions, including Finance, HR, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Corporate Affairs.
  • Deep understanding of Finance operations and accounting within a large insurance or financial services organization.
  • Direct oversight of large-scale ERP implementations or upgrades, preferably SAP S/4HANA, including architecture, integration, and adoption of best practices.
  • Strong technology and engineering background spanning application development, integration, cloud platforms, SaaS solutions, and modern architecture patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing digital, data, analytics, and AI-enabled strategies that drive automation, insight, and improved decision-making.
  • Leadership of Agile and scaled Agile delivery organizations in an enterprise environment, with a focus on delivery predictability, dependency management, and value realization.
  • Strong operational leadership experience, including accountability for service management, availability, resiliency, security, vendor performance, and customer experience.
  • Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and enterprise risk partners on technology controls, compliance, remediation, and ongoing risk management.
  • Proven experience designing and leading workforce and sourcing strategies across employees, contractors, and strategic partners to support scale, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Metrics-driven leadership experience, using KPIs, dashboards, and performance measures to manage outcomes, risk, and investment effectiveness.
  • Executive Communication & Influence – Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Business & Financial Acumen – Strong understanding of business models, operating models, financial drivers, budgeting, cost-benefit analysis, and risk management, including security considerations.
  • Enterprise Leadership & Interpersonal Effectiveness – Strong leadership presence with advanced interpersonal skills, including facilitation, negotiation, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
  • Organizational Savvy & Political Acumen – High situational and contextual awareness, with the ability to navigate complex enterprise dynamics, competing priorities, and ambiguous decision environments.
  • Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management – Ability to translate business strategies into prioritized portfolios, roadmaps, and investment decisions aligned to enterprise outcomes.
  • Analytical & Execution Discipline – Excellent analytical, planning, organizational, and execution skills, with a practical, outcomes-oriented approach to decision-making.
  • Technology & Engineering Judgment – Broad technical competence across application development, integration, SaaS, cloud (IaaS/PaaS), and modern architecture patterns.
  • Digital, Data, Analytics & AI Fluency – Ability to shape and evaluate digital, data, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions that drive automation, insight, and improved decision-making.
  • Enterprise Delivery & Agile Expertise – Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile and Lean principles, IT service management, and scaled Agile frameworks applied pragmatically in large enterprises.
  • Operational & Service Management Mindset – Strong grounding in IT operations, infrastructure, service management, and reliability, with a focus on stability, security, and customer experience.
  • Learning Agility & Technology Curiosity – Rapidly comprehends emerging technologies and assesses their practical applicability and business value.
  • Composure & Judgment Under Pressure – Remains composed in the face of opposition, exercising sound judgment and pragmatism in complex or high-stakes situations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong, trust-based relationships with business stakeholders as a strategic partner in shaping demand, aligning expectations, and driving measurable results. Establish strong engagement forums to align priorities, funding, scope, and delivery commitments.
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 100 technology professionals (employees and contractors), fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and deliver an outcome-driven technology plan aligned to business priorities, supported by strong business alignment and prioritization along with disciplined portfolio management and delivery practices.
  • Own end-to-end performance of Corporate Functions technology portfolios, including strategy, delivery, operations, financial management, vendor performance, security, and risk.
  • Engage with business stakeholders and technology colleagues to drive thought leadership and new approaches to accelerate the AI and digital priorities.
  • Drive a workforce and sourcing strategy, including internal talent development, vendor partnerships, and capacity planning to support predictable delivery at scale, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain an external perspective on industry trends, emerging technologies, and partner capabilities to inform strategy and execution in alignment industry standards.
