About The Position

This senior leadership role oversees the strategy, execution, and growth of account management teams supporting complex scientific and medical communications programs. The VP is responsible for ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded, developing high-performing teams, and driving innovation across projects and accounts. This role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational excellence, and hands-on involvement in program delivery. Success in this position directly impacts client satisfaction, business development, and the growth of the organization’s publication services. The role offers a collaborative environment where scientific expertise, creativity, and client engagement intersect to create meaningful outcomes for healthcare and life sciences clients.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in scientific or medical communications, with substantial account management and leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to manage interdisciplinary teams and large, complex client accounts.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industries preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp complex scientific and technical concepts quickly.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other digital tools for project management and reporting.
  • Experience in business development, including preparing proposals and delivering client presentations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in science, healthcare, or business preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor account management teams, including Senior Account Directors, Account Directors, Project Managers, and coordinators, ensuring high engagement and professional growth.
  • Oversee daily management of assigned accounts, ensuring projects meet client expectations, timelines, and budgetary goals.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for strategic communications initiatives.
  • Direct the development of new programs and publications, providing innovative solutions and scientific insights to support client objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to allocate resources, troubleshoot issues, and facilitate interdepartmental communication.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing, presentations, and identifying new opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Monitor account performance and report on key metrics, financials, and project progress to senior leadership.
