About The Position

As the Vice President, Digital Banking, you’ll shape the future of BECU’s digital ecosystem by driving the strategy, innovation, and execution behind our online, mobile, and AI powered experiences. You’ll elevate how millions of members interact with their money—creating digital moments that feel intuitive, secure, personal, and genuinely helpful. Reporting to the SVP of Digital, your leadership will guide our teams, our technology, and our transformation, ensuring digital banking at BECU is not only best-in-class but continually evolving to meet members where they are. Your impact will ripple across the organization as you unlock new capabilities, modernize core platforms, and champion a culture of innovation grounded in trust and member value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • Ability to travel up to 40%, mainly to headquarters in Tukwila, as well as, to conferences and events as needed.

  • Seattle based candidates preferred.
  • Industry experience in digital banking, fintech, or retail financial services.
  • Proven success in leading agile digital transformations within a digital and/or retail banking environment.
  • Expertise in cloud banking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud native architectures.
  • Strong understanding of mobile technologies, APIs, AI/ML applications, and digital UX/UI.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator with executive presence.
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and driving change at scale.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Visionary leader with a passion for customer centric innovation.
  • Skilled in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) and digital product management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Digital Transformation: Drive the strategy behind BECU’s retail banking: OLB, mobile, and conversational AI—ensuring members experience seamless, personalized, and secure interactions across touchpoints.
  • Build a Connected Digital Ecosystem: Bring teams, platforms, and partner systems together so tools, data, and insights flow seamlessly and support smarter decisions.
  • Shape Digital Experience Platforms: Oversee how digital platforms are designed, built, and scaled so they deliver meaningful value, intuitive journeys, and continuous performance improvements.
  • Measure What Matters: Track KPIs, OKRs, adoption metrics, and ROI to steer ongoing digital transformation and ensure every initiative delivers value. Integrate analytics deeply into decision-making to refine digital journeys and continually improve member satisfaction.
  • Drive Agile Ways of Working: Enhance productivity, quality, and delivery velocity through agile practices and embed agile methodologies across teams and implement strong governance for change, release controls, and risk mitigation.
  • Modernize Core Systems: Collaborate with Technology to shift legacy and core systems toward API driven, cloud native, scalable platforms aligned with enterprise growth. Ensure digital capabilities work together with operational needs, automating where it reduces friction and reinforcing first-line risk standards.
  • Champion Accessibility & Inclusion: Ensure every digital solution is easy to use, inclusive, and accessible for all members, reflecting thoughtful design at every stage.
  • Advance Emerging Tech: Explore and deploy technologies—such as AI, open banking, and evolving digital capabilities—that help BECU deliver smarter, faster, more connected services.
  • Lead Vendor Strategy: Manage vendors to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with long-term enterprise goals.
  • Develop High Performing Teams: Build, mentor, and inspire cross functional teams that thrive on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Advise and Influence: Provide strategic guidance to executives, ensuring technology decisions and digital strategy are tightly aligned to business priorities.
