This role provides strategic and tactical leadership for the North American Ground and Rail sales organization, covering both domestic and international markets with a focus on Large Local Accounts. The position is accountable for driving profitable growth, leading high-performing sales teams, and executing the end-to-end sales lifecycle in alignment with corporate strategy, policies, and values. The role serves as a senior commercial leader, shaping sales strategy, developing talent, and partnering cross-functionally to strengthen market position and long-term revenue performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 12 to 15 years of progressive, successful sales leadership experience, ideally within transportation, logistics, or supply chain environments.
  • Proven experience leading complex, multi-market sales organizations in a global or matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated success designing and executing strategic sales initiatives that deliver measurable business results.
  • Strong leadership capability with a track record of building and developing high-performing sales teams.
  • Advanced commercial acumen, including pricing strategy, market analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Financial proficiency, including forecasting, budgeting, and evaluating ROI.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead solution-driven initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with executive-level credibility.
  • Ability to assess risk, understand commercial implications of solutions, and mitigate liabilities.
  • High integrity and sound judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant sales and CRM systems.
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage diverse, cross-functional stakeholders and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the full sales lifecycle from lead generation through close for Ground and Rail solutions.
  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with company objectives and market opportunities.
  • Direct sophisticated market, pricing, and competitive analyses to identify growth opportunities and risks.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to track market activity, pipeline health, and results, reporting insights to senior leadership.
  • Lead economic, feasibility, and ROI analyses to support business cases and recommendations for executive decision-making.
  • Direct the development and execution of competitive, profitable pricing strategies.
  • Ensure effective administration of sales incentive and commission programs.
  • Maintain strong financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and P&L awareness to support sustainable growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Account Executives and sales leaders within the region.
  • Set clear performance expectations and manage sales performance in alignment with company policies.
  • Oversee sales staffing, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and training processes.
  • Personally mentor direct reports, supporting professional growth, capability building, and career progression.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to drive high performance.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, pricing, finance, and product teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Model leadership behaviors consistent with the company’s guiding principles and core values.
