About The Position

This position is responsible for managing ethanol business and new business development within the department, as well as observing other products business and transfer the knowledges and customer assets to other managers to reinforce the sales capability of Mitsui’s trading activities. The VP is also responsible for supporting the Divisional Operating Officer of Mitsui Americas Chemicals Division (DOO), and General Manager of Chemical Department in Mitsui USA (GM), in order to achieve business goal in ethanol industry, including bio-plastics manufacturing project, ethanol export from, Americas, E10 marketing development in Japan and terminal expansions by coworking with other business units within Mitsui Group, including Energy Solution Business Unit, Food Business Unite, Mitsui Europe and Intercontinental Terminal Company(ITC), achieving the target related to their ethanol business developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 10 years of experience in the ethanol industry having profound knowledge of the U.S. Chemical industry or a combination of training and experience which indicates the ability to do the job.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of M&A activities in order to establish potential joint ventures with strategic partners.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the current and projected domestic and international economic/business environment.
  • Must have prior managerial experience.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are required as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to remain open-minded and change opinions on the basis of new information; perform a wide variety of tasks and change focus quickly as demands change; manage transitions effectively from task to task; adapt to varying stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, quickly assess situations, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Should possess the ability to adapt to a cross-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and runs ethanol trading business to improve Mitsui’s capability for purchase, sales & operation, based on global wide ethanol market knowledge including regulations and certificates which are required to comply with in order to launch ethanol trading business in Mitsui, and take the responsibility of profit and loss through such ethanol trading activity every year Also though this trading activity, maintains close contacts with major business partners to ensure the continuance of existing business relationships and give advices to other managers to expand business and support new projects and trading.
  • Supports ethanol related activities within Mitsui Group under service agreements, and contribute to their business development. This includes tank terminal expansions at ITC, beverage grade ethanol export to Asia, fuel grade ethanol export to Europe, SAF production, bio chemical production and E10 marketing in Japan.
  • Assists DOO and GM in division management. This includes identifying business direction and strategy, division policy making, resource allocation, team building, business volume projection and division budgeting in ethanol related field.
  • Helps DOO and GM manage all internal governance mandates and compliance requirements; ensures all internal and external activities meet Mitsui rules and regulations; complies with all ethical standards established by the Company in line with DOO’s directions.
