About The Position

About the role: This individual will work remotely with a global team and needs the ability to support C-level clients who themselves are global is key. This VP Analyst will provide actionable insights to C-level Gartner clients who are General Managers, responsible for planning, creating, and managing Enterprise Application Services practices and offerings in both corporate and cloud environments. This role will also predict and project how application services market trends will impact end clients in their service solutions initiatives and decisions. The successful candidate will have a thought leading vision for how application services will evolve, and what Gartner's service provider clients in this market must do to succeed. We look for practical, operational and commercial experience creating and bringing to market services solutions, the creation of differentiated services offerings, driving impact for clients, as well as growth and profitability at the practice level. The ideal candidate will possess strong, broad industry experience across various application services and multiple application stacks. They should have experience that could be applied across multiple application stacks (Oracle, SAP, Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft, etc) not just a single stack. They will understand buyer needs and provider constraints in consulting, implementation, management and support of enterprise application services.

Requirements

  • Technical Knowledge relevant to Application Services & AI Services
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies including machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI, as used in the application stack, and as they pertain to service delivery
  • Deep understanding of agentic AI, including its use to disintermediate other application and business processes in the end user operations stack
  • Deep understanding of cloud operating models, the role of cloud in supporting AI applications, and the importance of the platform layer to application megavendor strategies
  • Research and Analytical Skills Strong qualitative and quantitative research methodology expertise
  • Advanced analytical thinking and ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights
  • Experience designing research frameworks and data collection methods
  • Ability to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in large datasets
  • Critical thinking skills to question assumptions and validate findings
  • Business and Industry Knowledge Comprehensive understanding of IT services markets
  • Knowledge of AI application implementation challenges across different industries for Cloud Services
  • Understanding of regional differences in AI capabilities, adoption trends, regulatory requirements, etc for cloud models.
  • Awareness of ethical, regulatory, and governance issues surrounding AI deployment
  • Understanding of the impact of AI on enterprise cloud services procurement and decision-making processes
  • Ability to translate Services technical capabilities into business value propositions
  • Communication and Presentation Skills Exceptional writing abilities with experience creating research reports and thought leadership content
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences
  • Experience conducting interviews with industry experts and C-level General Managers
  • Ability to facilitate discussions and working sessions with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Clear communication of data-driven insights that drive business decisions
  • Ability to communicate with technology and business leaders
  • Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree or PhD preferred in fields such as Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated expertise in AI technologies and their business applications
  • Prior experience at a research and advisory firm, consulting organization, or similar role highly valued
  • Track record of producing high-quality research content and client-facing deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Research and Analysis Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research on services supporting the emerging AI capabilities across multiple application stacks
  • Design and implement comprehensive market research studies to identify trends, competitive dynamics, and growth opportunities in the apps services sector as a result of the move to AI capabilities
  • Develop market forecasts and predictions about AI & application services adoption, implementation challenges, and potential business impacts
  • Analyze complex datasets to extract meaningful insights into AI & app services market trends, competitor movements, and customer needs
  • Monitor and evaluate the competitive landscape for service providers supporting application megavendors and AI application specialists, across the full range of services, from consulting, through implementation and managed services
  • Content Development and Thought Leadership Create compelling, high-quality research reports and thought leadership content on AI application services and their implications for major IT service providers.
  • Develop frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to help service providers successfully industrialize their application services offerings
  • Ideate, scope, and produce forward-looking research that addresses critical challenges faced by business and technology leaders
  • Prepare and deliver tailored briefings for clients that translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights
  • Contribute to research agenda development by identifying emerging areas of interest in AI services and application services
  • Collaborate with Gartner colleagues in the development of research positions related to AI application services
  • Client Engagement and Advisory Serve as a trusted advisor to C-level clients on AI services strategy, implementation approaches, and ecosystem partners for deployment
  • Conduct briefings and advisory sessions to help C-level clients navigate complex AI decisions and investments
  • Present research findings at industry events, webinars, and client conferences
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry thought leaders, vendors, and practitioners in the AI space
  • Support sales teams by providing expert insights during C-level client conversations

  • A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 194,000 USD - 234,000 USD.
  • In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
