About The Position

Position Function: Responsibilities include management and oversight of the ACH Volunteer program; matching agency needs with volunteer opportunities. This position will supervise the Volunteer Mentor Coordinator and be responsible for recruiting, screening, training and overseeing volunteers. The Volunteer Services Manager works with staff throughout the agency with a goal of building successful partnerships and experiences for ACH clients, staff, and the volunteer program. The job requires sensitivity to the population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years in a non-profit role with experience managing staff, volunteers and/or event planning required.
  • Knowledge of community and volunteer resources.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to engage with a wide variety of people (all age groups, income levels, ethnicity, etc.).
  • Strong computer/technology skills required in Microsoft Suite and ability to use social media software (LinkedIn and Facebook)
  • Highly organized and detail-orientated, demonstrate excellent time-management skills, and be able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Must be able to confidently work with a variety of people, from college students to top level executives and collaborate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be able to confidently present on behalf of the agency to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Management and oversight of the volunteer program including recruitment, training, screening, stewardship of volunteers.
  • Maintains records for each volunteer and volunteer activity in accordance with company policy.
  • Generates interest and excitement in the volunteer program both internally and externally.
  • Interviews volunteers and processes volunteer applications and background checks. Maintains volunteer screening records and dates through DFPS and internal CRM.
  • Collaborates with Development Manager on the in-kind donations program, including solicitation and stewardship of in-kind donors and distribution to agency programs.
  • Engages individuals, corporations, civic groups, and staff in group activities to support agency mission.
  • Reviews volunteer policies, procedures, and processes annually, ensuring compliance with COA requirements and ACH standards.
  • Determines communication and stewardship plan to maintain engagement with volunteers and encourage retention.
  • Works with Development leadership to maintain list of ways volunteers can support the agency through donations, both monetary or in-kind, and supports donation solicitation efforts. Identifies cues from individuals or groups that might have the capacity to support ACH financially and works with Development team to maintain prospect list.
  • Represents the agency through public presentations and attendance at community or corporate events.
  • Plans, manages, and executes the Trunk or Treat event, hosted in October each year. Raises support for the event through collaboration with programs to invite clients and development to recruit volunteers and donors.
  • Manages volunteer mentor coordinator position and department interns.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of all ACH programs and services and accurately and professionally represent ACH and its programs to the community.
  • Understand strategic plan of agency as a whole and development office and how the volunteer services program contributes to the plan.
