Position Summary Recruits, coaches, supports, and retains GSGLA adult volunteers by fostering a positive and engaging volunteer experience. Builds strong relationships with individuals and service units to understand their unique needs and motivations. Designs and delivers comprehensive training curricula using a variety of modalities—including in-person workshops, virtual sessions, and self-paced digital resources—to ensure accessibility and effectiveness. Continuously evaluates training outcomes and adapts content to align with evolving volunteer needs, organizational goals, and best practices in adult education. Provides ongoing mentorship and recognition to promote volunteer satisfaction, growth, and long-term commitment to the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles.

Requirements

  • Project coordination skills helpful, with a focus on curriculum development.
  • Volunteer coordination or management experience is helpful.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and willing to thrive in an ever-changing/fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to spend time sitting, utilizing the computer, and standing and walking throughout the facilities.
  • Ability to travel via personal vehicle or public transportation to various facilities throughout the region.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds periodically.
  • Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events.
  • Ability to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of themself or others.
  • Comply with state-mandated reporter training.
  • Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned.
  • Must successfully complete a live scan and background check.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; bilingual skills an asset.
  • Strong human relation skills: ability to motivate people in small and large group settings.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and have demonstrable skills in word processing software, spreadsheets, and presentations. (Such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe, etc.).
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate and delegate as well as handle multiple tasks.
  • Perform tasks willingly and accept the diverse responsibilities of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Retention Identify, recruit, and onboard adult educators and volunteers across the council. Foster an inclusive volunteer culture that encourages long‑term engagement. Implement volunteer recognition and retention strategies that celebrate contributions and strengthen community.
  • Training Design & Delivery Develop and maintain training curricula tailored to the needs of adult volunteers. Deliver training through multiple modalities: in-person, virtual, and self-paced platforms. Ensure training aligns with GSGLA and GSUSA standards, policies, and program goals.
  • Volunteer Coaching & Support Provide ongoing guidance, mentorship, and resources to volunteers. Support volunteer effectiveness, confidence, and satisfaction through clear communication and responsive assistance. Serve as a liaison between volunteers and GSGLA staff to ensure seamless collaboration and support. Develop the Adult Educator team through ongoing skill‑building, coaching, and educator‑specific support to strengthen instructional quality and consistency.
  • Collaboration & Coordination Work closely with volunteer educators, program teams, and service unit leaders to coordinate training needs and logistics. Participate in cross‑functional initiatives aimed at improving volunteer and girl program experiences. Collaborate with internal departments to align training and volunteer support with organizational priorities.
  • Recognition & Engagement Implement recognition programs to celebrate volunteer contributions. Organize events or campaigns that highlight volunteer impact and build community.
  • Monitor Program Performance against the Strategic Plan: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement by reviewing established metrics and goals, implementing adjustments to ensure successful outcomes. Assess training effectiveness through feedback, surveys, and performance metrics. Refine training content using volunteer feedback and organizational priorities. Stay current with trends in adult education and volunteer management.
  • Collaborates with business leads in all appropriate GSGLA departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
