The Volunteer Coordinator for Hospice is responsible for establishing goals and implementing strategies for the recruitment, retention, and recognition of volunteers. This role involves recruiting and screening volunteers for the hospice program, coordinating recruitment activities with community organizations, and developing and conducting volunteer orientation and in-service training programs in accordance with hospice Conditions of Participation. The coordinator will place volunteers in various aspects of the hospice program, communicate with patients and families about volunteer availability, and maintain an up-to-date volunteer database. Key responsibilities also include supervising and evaluating volunteer staff, ensuring proper documentation of volunteer-patient interactions, and providing reports to meet regulatory standards. The coordinator will participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assess and coordinate patient care and assist in the development of services, resources, programs, policies, and protocols.
