About The Position

The Voice Communication Systems Engineer III research, designs, develops, tests, and oversees the installation of electrical communication systems at Kennedy Space Center including Mission Voice systems (Paging Area Warning & Mission Operational Intercom Systems. This position is a System Engineer III that performs design and sustaining engineering for the KSC Video Systems. This position writes detailed work steps, creates/updates drawings, creates/updates documents, supports sustaining efforts, provides engineering work package estimates, performs system administration, and vendor/manufacturer collaboration.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required, plus 5 years’ experience, or A Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an engineering program accredited by ABET and three (3) years of Engineering Experience
  • Dependent upon education - Five years' experience if holding a Bachelor's degree or three years' experience if holding a Masters' degree
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer administration
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to pass a NASA background investigation
  • Must be able to pass an initial and random drug testing
  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Frequent use and application of communication engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Establish voice comm system requirements and define system architectures.
  • Produce voice comm installation designs and documentation.
  • Develop system Acceptance Test Procedures, Functional Test Procedures, and Operational Instructions.
  • Work with Drafting team members to create and maintain detailed system drawings.
  • Integrate custom and COTS products into current voice comm systems architecture and design.
  • Perform sustaining engineering such as obsolescence part replacement, software upgrades, server maintenance, failure analysis and trending.
  • Orchestrate system troubleshooting efforts for escalated trouble calls.
  • Create engineering instructions for work orders affecting system design and configuration changes.
  • Research and order materials/components that meet voice systems specifications.
  • Assess system upgrade/expansion projects and provide labor and material estimates.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Works under general supervision.
