About The Position

NTG is seeking a highly skilled Virtualization / VMware Administrator to join our team supporting the USCENTCOM CITS contract in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing management of enterprise virtualization infrastructure, with a focus on VMware technologies. You will support mission-critical operations by maintaining a secure, high-performance virtual environment that includes virtual servers, desktops, and networking components across multiple physical and operational locations. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth technical expertise, a proactive approach to system optimization, and a commitment to supporting the warfighter’s mission through reliable and scalable IT services.

Requirements

  • Must hold an applicable DoD 8140 / DoD 8570 certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CISSP, CASP+).
  • Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI
  • Proven experience administering VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and vSphere networking.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization principles and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and effective technical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple physical sites.
  • Perform routine updates, patches, and maintenance to ensure security and reliability.
  • Monitor and optimize performance, resource usage, and availability across the virtual environment.
  • Configure and manage VMware networking components (e.g., Distributed Switches, VLANs).
  • Troubleshoot complex virtualization-related issues, including VM performance, network connectivity, and host stability.
  • Work closely with IT teams to design infrastructure solutions aligned with command objectives and mission requirements.
  • Mentor junior administrators and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team culture.
  • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for virtual infrastructure.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on architecture, processes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Research and recommend new VMware technologies to improve system performance and scalability.
  • Participate in projects focused on enhancing security, efficiency, and capability of virtual systems.
  • Engage with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
