Whatever your career goals may be, let SMSC help get you there! This is a full-time Tuesday to Saturday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Job Overview: The Visitor Services Coordinator is generally responsible for a successful visitor experience at Hocokata Ti. As the first and last staff member to engage most visitors, they must provide a high level of customer service and are responsible for a broad range of activities including admissions, field trip and group visit scheduling, and daily reception and operational support.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience in customer service and/or administrative support experience.
  • Knowledge of Dakota Indian history and culture obtained through coursework or other experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks, problem solve, and exercise independent judgement to ensure great guest experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visitor reception by creating a welcoming environment for all visitors. Greets and directs visitors to the appropriate area as needed. Responds to inquiries from employees, Community Members, and general public in person, by e-mail or phone. Answers telephones, take and relay messages, may transfer calls or direct the caller to the appropriate staff.
  • Perform daily opening and closing ticket sales and cash register procedures, process deposits and paperwork according to policies and procedures.
  • Works directly with local groups, schools and other organizations to plan and implement field trips and group visits.
  • On an occasional basis, be available to lead impromptu visitor tours.
  • Provides outreach for Hocokata Ti and SMSC Cultural Resources at trade shows, exhibitions, and internal events.
  • Assists Operations team with coordinating facility schedule, including the set up and take down of event spaces and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.
