About The Position

The Norman Lab, housed in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, is seeking a Visiting Researcher with deep expertise in genome graph construction and interpretation, complex genomic architecture of the human MHC, and de novo DNA sequence assembly. In this role, the researcher will design, optimize, and maintain advanced algorithms for assembling sequences within the human MHC genomic region and apply these computational methods to large‑scale disease association studies. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to high‑impact research at the intersection of immunogenomics, computational biology, and human disease. Visiting Researcher position is a full‑time, two‑year appointment with the possibility of extension depending on funding and program needs. The Norman Lab, embedded within the Departments of Biomedical Informatics and Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, offers a uniquely collaborative environment at the intersection of computational biology, immunogenetics, and human disease research. Our team is internationally recognized for advancing the understanding of natural variation in immune responses, with a particular emphasis on the highly complex human MHC region. As a Visiting Researcher, you will contribute to cutting‑edge projects that directly inform precision medicine, population genetics, and disease‑association studies, while working alongside experts who are shaping the future of immunogenomics. Joining us means becoming part of a vibrant research community with access to state‑of‑the‑art computational resources, high‑throughput sequencing platforms, and interdisciplinary collaborations across the Anschutz Medical Campus. You will have opportunities to engage in seminars, workshops, and cross‑departmental initiatives that support scientific growth and innovation. This role is ideal for researchers who want to push the boundaries of genome assembly, algorithm development, and complex genomic interpretation within a supportive, intellectually rich environment.
