About The Position

Duties: Operates and maintains highly technical research equipment and facilities Plans, designs and conducts scientific experiments. Assists others in proper use of equipment Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and training personnel on specialized vision research equipment used in the Ophthalmology animal facility, comparative medicine, and vision core labs Analyzes and interprets data. Presents research results and prepares research for publication. Operates and maintains highly technical research equipment and facilities and assists others in the proper use of equipment. Procures supplies and equipment needed for laboratory and field operations. Assists in preparing funding proposals. Procures supplies, reagents, surgical, consumables Communicates with vendors on procurement and equipment repair when needed Logs usage data on equipment and assists with writing annual progress reports and grant submissions using this data Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, AND: 24 months of related research experience
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Highly organize and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well
  • Technical writing skills
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques (especially animal handling and physiological analysis of vision using specialized instruments)
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of specialized terminology
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motion
  • Ability to work in varied settings and locations determined by research goals
