Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, AND: 24 months of related research experience
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Highly organize and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well
  • Technical writing skills
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques (especially animal handling and physiological analysis of vision using specialized instruments)
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of specialized terminology

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains highly technical research equipment and facilities
  • Plans, designs and conducts scientific experiments.
  • Assists others in proper use of equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and training personnel on specialized vision research equipment used in the Ophthalmology animal facility, comparative medicine, and vision core labs
  • Analyzes and interprets data.
  • Presents research results and prepares research for publication.
  • Operates and maintains highly technical research equipment and facilities and assists others in the proper use of equipment.
  • Procures supplies and equipment needed for laboratory and field operations.
  • Assists in preparing funding proposals.
  • Procures supplies, reagents, surgical, consumables
  • Communicates with vendors on procurement and equipment repair when needed
  • Logs usage data on equipment and assists with writing annual progress reports and grant submissions using this data
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of this position.
