This faculty member will contribute to a collaborative department that integrates studio and design practice in multimedial ways. The position involves teaching foundational and advanced courses, mentoring students, participating in curriculum development, and supporting interdisciplinary initiatives that connect creative practice with industry and community engagement. This role plays a key part in strengthening connections between studio practice, critical thinking, and professional application, contributing to a more agile and future-focused department. The Assistant Professor of Art is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of a multidisciplinary curriculum that integrates traditional studio practices with contemporary and evolving approaches to art-making. The position supports a flexible curriculum responsive to program needs, student demand, and established learning outcomes, and contributes to core coursework serving both majors and non-majors. The faculty member will oversee the safe and effective operation of studio and fabrication facilities, including equipment maintenance, enforcement of safety protocols, lab supervision, and coordination of materials and supply procurement. The role includes teaching a standard load of three courses per semester at multiple levels, integrating technical skill development with conceptual inquiry. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students in academic planning, portfolio development, and career preparation, as well as supervising capstone projects and independent studies. The faculty member will also participate in departmental and university service, including meetings, curriculum development, assessment activities, and student reviews. The position supports recruitment and retention efforts through participation in departmental events, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives, and contributes to interdisciplinary collaboration within the department. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active creative practice and professional engagement in the field and represent the department through exhibitions, presentations, and participation in regional, national, and international professional communities.
