About The Position

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics. The appointment will begin with the 2026-2027 academic year (beginning in August 2026). This is a nine (9) month academic position with a minimum teaching load of eight (three credit) courses per year depending on research activity or University service commitments. Webster University is located in St. Louis, a city known for its rich culture, passionate sports fans, and central location for travel. We are also a major biomedical hub which has seen significant growth in the bioeconomy, biotech, and health care fields.    Applicants requiring University sponsorship to obtain employment authorization will not be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics or related field.
  • An ABD currently enrolled graduate student will be considered in special cases.
  • Experience teaching to majors in other scientific disciplines is critical.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty and staff and to mentor students from a wide range of cultures and academic backgrounds is essential.

  • Applicants whose academic and/or research experiences include medical physics or biophysics are especially encouraged to apply.
  • An ideal candidate will have teaching experience demonstrate that they effectively engage students in critical thinking, problem solving, and collaborative work.
