About The Position

The Fashion Design Department at Thomas Jefferson University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to begin fall 2026. We are in search of an experienced, talented team-oriented fashion design professor who will provide instruction and guidance to our students within and across the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. We seek a sustainability-minded educator and fashion designer who can contribute to and help lead coursework across the BS Fashion Design and MS Fashion Design Technology programs, with a focus on current and emerging industry technologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in 3D digital design (CLO3D), Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as it applies to industry. This role is ideal for a candidate who is both technically skilled and conceptually forward-thinking, and who is eager to help shape the next generation of designers working at the intersection of craft, technology, and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in fashion design, product development, or digital fashion
  • Demonstrated expertise in CLO3D and 3D digital fashion design workflows
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and AI tools relevant to fashion design, with an emphasis on ethical application
  • Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and their integration into both industry practice and education
  • Ability to teach, mentor, and support a diverse student body
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Advanced degree MS, MFA, MA, or equivalent in Fashion Design, Fashion Technology or a related discipline or a BA, BS, BFA, in fashion design or related discipline and at least 5 years professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
  • Strong background in patternmaking and garment construction (physical and/or digital)
  • Experience with additional 3D or digital tools (e.g., Browzwear or similar platforms)
  • Evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration or industry engagement
  • Engagement with research, creative practice, or scholarship related to sustainability, technology, or inclusive design

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in fashion design, with emphasis on CAD (Adobe Suite), 3D design, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop, advance and coordinate curriculum across programs, particularly in areas related to CLO3D, virtual prototyping, and fashion design technology.
  • Integrate sustainable design practices and circularity into course content and student projects in line with programmatic goals.
  • Provide mentorship and academic advising to support student success
  • Collaborate with faculty to assess, evolve, and innovate curriculum
  • Participate in departmental, college and university service, including recruitment, events, and program development
