About The Position

Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) seeks an enthusiastic and dependable Middle School Strings (Violin) Program Assistant Instructor to support our after-school performing arts programming. This role is ideal for college-level music students or emerging educators interested in gaining hands-on teaching experience in a dynamic urban school setting. The Assistant Instructor will work closely with the Performing Arts Director to support instruction, small-group rehearsals, student engagement, classroom management, and program logistics during twice-weekly after-school sessions held on campus.

Requirements

  • Current college student or recent graduate majoring in music performance, music education, or a related field
  • Strong violin proficiency required
  • Ability to follow instructional direction and collaborate as part of a teaching team
  • Dependable and punctual for twice-weekly sessions
  • Background check clearance required

Responsibilities

  • Support & lead instruction during after-school violin classes and rehearsals
  • Work with small groups or individual students on technique, posture, rhythm, tone production, and repertoire
  • Assist with tuning instruments and basic equipment setup/breakdown
  • Reinforce rehearsal expectations and positive student behavior
  • Help track attendance and student participation
  • Support performances, showcases, and culminating events as scheduled
  • Communicate professionally with staff and students
  • Model professionalism, reliability, and enthusiasm for music education
