About The Position

WSAW-TV, the CBS/FOX/CW affiliate in Wausau, WI is looking for a full-time videojournalist who is ready to join our award-winning news operation. The ideal candidate will shoot and edit news stories, conduct interviews, and coordinate live shots with reporters. Must be proficient in obtaining quality video and editing under a deadline. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Shoot and edit compelling, high-quality video for daily news stories and live broadcasts Set up and operate broadcast video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment Collaborate with assignment editor and reporters to cover breaking news, events, and features Work under tight deadlines on a routine basis You will also work together with digital team to get content (raw video, photos, live feed) online before newscast content airs. Ensure all video and audio meet technical and editorial standards Maintain assigned equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as needed Follow all safety guidelines and station policies while in the field Maintain a clean driving record

Requirements

  • Must be available to work 1:30 p.m. -10:30 p.m.
  • Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to work quickly and multitask under deadline pressure and breaking news.
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, and overnights for breaking news and specialized coverage.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Must be able to carry 35+ pounds of gear, and be experienced in shooting and editing unique content.

Nice To Haves

  • We prefer a college degree in journalism or related field, and at least one or more years of newsroom or digital producing experience.
  • Familiarity with ENPS, Grass Valley Edius, Sony XDCAM cameras, Arc Publishing and Social News Desk preferred.
