This examination is being given to fill 1 vacancy in the District Attorney's Office and to establish an eligible list to fill future vacancies. The position involves learning to review and evaluate victim-of-crime applications for adherence to California State statutory and eligibility requirements, obtaining and analyzing crime reports and other documents, and contacting various officials to determine program eligibility. The specialist will also learn to review and process a variety of claims including medical, mental health, funeral/burial bills, and wage loss requests, researching information to link claims to qualifying crimes, calculating losses, and determining reimbursements. The role requires effective interaction with victims, families, law enforcement, and other organizations, acting as a liaison, and coordinating services with Victim/Witness Advocates. Additionally, the specialist will learn to maintain accurate logs and detailed computer files for all claims, process approved bills for payment, create pre-authorization statements, monitor caseload data, and prepare summary reports and correspondence.
