About The Position

The Vice President, Total Rewards is a strategic executive leader responsible for designing, implementing, and governing a comprehensive total rewards strategy that supports a fast-growing, mission-driven healthcare organization. This role has primary accountability for enterprise compensation strategy, payroll governance, benefits design and the implementation and optimization of the Dayforce Compensation module. The VP ensures total rewards programs attract, motivate, and retain both clinical and non-clinical talent in a competitive healthcare labor market while aligning compensation and workforce investments with financial performance, quality outcomes, compliance requirements, and employee wellbeing.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive total rewards leadership experience
  • Deep expertise in compensation strategy, pay structure design, and job architecture
  • Proven Dayforce Compensation and Payroll implementation experience
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and tax risk mitigation
  • Healthcare industry experience (multi-site or provider-based preferred)
  • Strong financial acumen and executive presence

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a healthcare-aligned total rewards philosophy
  • Own and evolve the enterprise compensation strategy, including market positioning, pay mix, and differentiation for critical roles and segments.
  • Lead enterprise job analysis, job architecture, and salary structure design
  • Design competitive base, incentive, and provider compensation programs aligned to quality, productivity, and financial outcomes
  • Implement and optimize the Dayforce Compensation and Payroll modules, including automated merit and incentive cycles
  • Strengthen multi-state payroll governance and implement tax fallout prevention controls
  • Partner with Finance on labor cost modeling and workforce investment strategy
  • Lead benefits strategy and develop measurable wellness initiatives focused on burnout prevention and workforce sustainability
  • Establish compensation governance frameworks and executive-level reporting dashboards
  • Enable leaders with tools, education, and decision frameworks to drive consistent, strategic compensation decisions.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Total Rewards, Payroll, and HRIS team
