Site Operations Department The Site Operations Department is responsible for the overall health and wellbeing of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, customer service and performance of all data modules at each campus. The teams are staffed 24 x 7 on site with Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs) on each shift. These teams are the face of Vantage to our customers and the first line of defense regarding the uptime of our campus as well as the general health of our customer installations. Using a Critical Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan and track needed work, each campus Site Operations department manages all preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for our campuses located throughout North America. Our culture expects and rewards operations teams that engage directly with the customers and the facility infrastructure. These teams do most of the work themselves versus calling out constantly to vendors. As a result, we provide superior service that is faster and more cost effective. We prove that service through transparent reporting on all key performance metrics gives the customers the ability to focus on their operations without having to manage the performance of the facilities. Position Overview This role will be based on-site in Ashburn, VA. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Site Operations to oversee the overall site operations at our North American campuses. This role requires a highly accountable, mission‑driven leader who thrives in complex, cross‑functional environments and takes personal ownership of operational excellence, customer trust, and team engagement. This critical leadership role will manage a team of directors and facility engineers, ensuring that our operations maintain a stellar reputation with customers and within the industry. The VP, Site Operations will be responsible for the workflow of all campus activities, ensuring exceptional service and 100% uptime across our portfolio. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement by measuring metrics and KPIs consistently, sharing best-in-class processes across campuses, and developing additional standards for maintenance, budgeting, and scaling efforts. This role will also collaborate with Design, Engineering, and Construction teams to optimize construction costs while maintaining site availability and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in site operations or facilities management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
  • Proven experience in the data center industry or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems and machinery, with the ability to recognize performance deficiencies and respond to operational and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reliability engineering and project management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in operations management software and systems.
  • Consistent track record of excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and building automation systems.
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 50% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate extreme ownership for operational outcomes, proactively identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities without reliance on direction or escalation.
  • Operate with a bias for action, balancing speed, rigor, and safety in decision‑making.
  • Take personal accountability for results across the portfolio, regardless of functional ownership boundaries.
  • Lead from the front during periods of disruption, change, or ambiguity, setting the tone for accountability, resilience, and professionalism.
  • Oversee the management and administration of operations functions at all North American properties, ensuring safe and effective operation of machinery and building systems.
  • Lead a team of site operations directors responsible for each campus, fostering a team-oriented environment through positive feedback and accountability.
  • Ensure availability and capacity targets are achieved and maintained for all data centers and technical infrastructure.
  • Use performance data to evaluate and suggest cost-effective improvements to enhance service and operating efficiency.
  • Hold’s teams accountable on preventive/corrective maintenance of facility equipment, critical and non-critical alike.
  • Protect and improve the value of assets by ensuring that building machinery and systems meet or exceed expected life spans.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the base building systems and can recognize system performance deficiencies and respond to operational and emergency situations.
  • Organize administrative functions related to site operations, such as a work orders and maintenance activities, budgets, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Responsible for ALL Key Performance indicators to executive team.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by quickly and efficiently resolving any service issues.
  • Maintain elite customer service standards for all customers, ensuring compliance with all customer lease agreements.
  • Drive the development and implementation of improved standards for maintenance, budgeting, and scaling efforts.
  • Collaborate with peers and the COO to determine appropriate team performance goals and manage them to completion.
  • Manage all integration and acquisition activities for the American markets.
  • Oversee all customer experience reporting, including monthly and quarterly performance meetings and fit-outs on live sites.
  • Ensure all major projects are properly planned, executed, and closed out in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Build highly engaged, high‑performing site operations teams by maintaining a visible presence in the field and fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Actively connect teams to the broader company mission, customer impact, and operational purpose of Vantage’s data center platforms.
  • Champion talent development, succession planning, and leadership capability across site operations to support long‑term growth and scalability.
  • Conduct performance reviews, seek input, and provide feedback and coaching to manage individuals and the team.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.
