POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President Sales, Municipal is responsible for sales leadership, strategy and results for the company’s municipal sales operations nationwide. This position leads sales for the largest and most complex municipal portfolios and drives profitable growth through strategic partnerships, legislative engagement and innovative sales initiatives. The VP partners closely with Area leadership to ensure alignment with corporate objectives, market expansion goals and legislative priorities. The VP serves as the primary liaison with government affairs, lobbyists and consultants to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes that protect and advance the company’s interests. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and communicates the company’s municipal sales strategy, delivering profitable growth and ensuring consistent execution across all Areas. Drives innovation around integrated growth, Electric Vehicles and other initiatives to create differentiated valued offerings to municipalities. Partners and collaborates with Area Presidents to integrate municipal sales objectives into area market planning and business plans. Provides functional leadership and coaching to Municipal Sales teams through Area/Sales Leadership ensuring best practices and capability building. Influences and participates in talent development, succession planning and performance standards across Municipal Sales teams. Partners with Government Affairs to shape legislative strategy and advocate for favorable policies at state and federal levels. Represents company in high-level negotiations with elected officials, regulatory bodies and industry associations. Supports Area Leaders in negotiations for high-value contracts and re-bid opportunities. Ensures accurate and timely reporting to senior leadership on municipal sales performance, trends and forecasts. Drives Salesforce CRM compliance and leverages analytics for strategic decision making across Areas. Acts as spokesperson and industry thought leader, presenting at city and local conferences and events. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent. This position may require 60%+ travel by air, car and/or other modes of transportation. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong sales leadership, P&L responsibility, team management and collaboration skills with proven experience managing in a matrix environment across a large geographic area preferred. Experience in waste, energy, municipal or government sales or government relations. Strong knowledge of the workings of government including the legislative process, procurement regulations and bidding procedures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in government sales, or related sales or government experiences, including at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.
