About The Position

The Vice President Product leads the strategic development and execution of innovative healthcare products that improve patient outcomes and streamline care delivery. This role is responsible for product planning, product design, product development, the management of pilots for new products, the management of our general availability process for new products and the ongoing management of generally available products. This role will collaborate across the organization, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including business development, client management, operations, technical development, finance, and others to build consensus on the product roadmap, development, and launch. The Sr Product Manager also integrates market and competitive research into product strategy and planning, coordinates initiatives across all departments, and ensures product functionality aligns with the company’s overall strategy and goals. This position is eligible for remote work, but regular business travel will be required, including Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of product management experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of product management experience, including product launch and/or product marketing within the healthcare or health technology industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in product planning and roadmap development.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Strong knowledge of the laboratory testing, genetic testing and genomics, or specialty drug management markets.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex product lifecycles from concept to launch
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver clear, compelling presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence, align, and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with health insurance companies, claims adjudication systems, and pharmacy benefit managers highly preferred
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and product management tools such as Jira
  • Knowledge of data analytics and experience using data-driven decision-making to guide product strategy.
  • Certification in Product Management (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner)
  • Previous experience in a start-up or early-stage company backed by private-equity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with company objectives and healthcare industry standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical, technical, and business teams to gather and prioritize product requirements based on user needs and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the product development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality healthcare solutions.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and risks within the healthcare sector.
  • Monitor product performance metrics and user feedback to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships including healthcare providers, regulatory bodies, and internal leadership to ensure product success.
  • Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and data privacy standards.
