The Job/What You'll Do: As Vice President, Operations , you’ll be at the helm of driving operational excellence across our organization. This role is not about maintaining the status quo — it’s about building processes that scale fast, executing with laser-sharp focus, and inspiring teams to exceed expectations. You will oversee critical operational functions such as new business and client onboarding, transfers of assets (incoming and outgoing), maintenance of existing accounts, talent acquisition, training, people and leadership development, process improvements, team engagement and overall team strategy and budgeting. You will operate in a multi-custody environment that requires expert knowledge of custodial platforms, operating disciplines, and vendor/partner management. As an officer of the firm, you will work closely with the executive team to directly influence the strategic direction of the firm and deliver on any related objectives and key results for your functions. You will act as a steward of the firm and be a representative for AssetMark in critical cross-functional meetings, client events and the community. This is a full-time position in our Phoenix, AZ office with a hybrid work schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of operational leadership experience in financial services (broker-dealer, asset management, fintech, or investment banking).
  • Extensive experience with multi-custodian platforms including custodians such as Fidelity, Schwab and/or Pershing
  • Proven track record in fast-paced, execution-focused environment
  • Experience scaling operations through periods of rapid growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and develop talent across all levels.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, operational risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Data-driven mindset with comfort in operational analytics, KPI dashboards, and process modeling.
  • Exceptional communication and cross-functional influence skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • FINRA licenses

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee broad Ops team of domestic and offshore associates
  • Manage Objectives and Key Results
  • Set, drive, successfully manage, and report out on key metrics such as service level agreements, accuracy, productivity, cost per account, Advisor loyalty and team engagement.
  • Drive a metrics-driven culture that values results and continuous improvement.
  • Enforce superb case and queue management across the team
  • Drive Operational Scale - Lead the design and execution of fast, scalable processes that support our aggressive growth goals
  • Engage with the Product and Engineering team on a clear and executable roadmap of improvements
  • Work directly with the custodians to improve processes, eliminate hand-off’s and streamline the client experience
  • Manage key vendor relationships with Fidelity, Schwab and Pershing
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews off/on site
  • Handle critical escalations and ensure seamless execution of our service model
  • Develop strong partnership with key senior leaders at each PC
  • Execute with Excellence – Operate with clarity, urgency and total ownership. Ensure high quality execution across operational workflows with an extremely low tolerance for error.
  • Effectively manage team dynamics, staffing, talent and overall team performance.
  • Optimize Processes – Use Process Excellence and lean principles to identify, refine, and streamline key business processes to increase efficiency and reduce operational waste.
  • Obsess over our clients & people – Possess a client-first mentality, using emotional connection and outside-in thinking to ensure we are delivering an exceptional client experience.
  • Masterfully handle sensitive escalations directly with clients, Service and Sales teams.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Act as a strategic partner to numerous teams across the organization, including Product and Engineering, Service, Trading, Legal and Compliance, Reporting and Technology.
  • Change Management – Effectively lead transformational initiatives — integrating new processes, team structures, tools, and technologies with minimal disruption.
