The Vice President of Operations, Value-Added Services will lead the integration of wire and cable distribution operations and Value-added Services expertise into sales, purchasing and business development activities to drive greater combined agility, service and value to the customer. This highly visible, commercially oriented leadership role will utilize a career-worth of product knowledge, distribution know-how, and operational excellence to strengthen sales performance and purchasing effectiveness. The VPO VAS will combine technical operations knowledge with business and financial acumen to evaluate the strategic impact of product-related decisions. Success in this role requires both operational expertise and the ability to collaborate with senior leaders internally — including the leaders in Commercial Sales, Business Development, Product Line Management & Procurement, and Capital Projects — as well as with customers and suppliers. The Vice President of Sales Operations plays a critical role in advancing OmniCable’s strategy to Protect and Grow the Core business: Strengthen PLM through operational data, throughput insights, and distribution expertise. Support Capital Projects by aligning distribution capacity and fulfillment readiness with project demands. Activate white space growth by leveraging DC capacity and product flow capabilities. Serve as the cross-functional glue across Commercial Sales, Business Development, PLM & Procurement, and Capital Projects to ensure strategic execution and a “One Team” approach. Through these contributions, the VP of Operations, VAS ensures that OmniCable’s operational backbone actively drives sales effectiveness, customer success, and sustained profitable growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in wire & cable distribution, operations, or supply chain leadership, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in material handling, storage, freight, and value-added services specific to wire and cable distribution.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to connect tactical product decisions to strategic outcomes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with senior leaders, customers, and suppliers to drive profitable growth.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (OmniPro), CRM (Salesforce), and operational reporting systems (PowerBI).
  • Excellent communication skills, executive presence, and change leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the overarching sales operations strategy, ensuring distribution and operations expertise directly support company growth and profitability goals.
  • Partner with distribution center leaders to align DC capacity, throughput, and service levels with sales objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative culture across distribution, sales, procurement, and commercial teams that drives efficiency and profitable growth.
  • Translate operational and distribution insights into executive-level recommendations that strengthen financial and customer outcomes.
  • Serve as a cross-functional collaborator across Commercial Sales, Business Development, Product Line Management & Procurement, and Capital Projects.
  • Ensure operational excellence in material handling, freight, storage, and value-added services (VAS) to meet sales and customer requirements.
  • Provide guidance on standard equipment usage (e.g., rim drives, re-spoolers) and throughput optimization.
  • Collaborate with DC teams to maintain capacity/utilization calculations, slow-moving/distressed inventory strategies, and flow efficiency.
  • Align product and distribution strategies with purchasing decisions, sales forecasts, and inventory positioning.
  • Enable Product Line Management (PLM): Provide operational data and expertise that strengthen buying and inventory positioning strategies.
  • Support Capital Projects: Align DC capacity, VAS capabilities, and freight scheduling with large, complex opportunities while proactively identifying operational risks.
  • Explore New Service Offerings: Investigate and develop new 3PL customer offering to extend the OmniCable distribution footprint into customer wire centers (core), pop DCs for large capital projects (new growth) or satellite mini-DCs in new markets (share gain).
  • Support White Space Growth: Identify operational capacity and product flow opportunities that enable expansion into underserved regions, verticals, and accounts.
  • Equip sales leaders with operational playbooks and customer-ready insights to pursue growth opportunities effectively.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting structures that link distribution performance to sales results.
  • Partner with finance to ensure tactical product decisions align with profitability and long-term growth.
  • Help optimize CRM and reporting tools by integrating operational data for improved forecasting accuracy and visibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, process efficiency, and adoption of best practices.
  • Strengthen PLM through operational data, throughput insights, and distribution expertise.
  • Support Capital Projects by aligning distribution capacity and fulfillment readiness with project demands.
  • Activate white space growth by leveraging DC capacity and product flow capabilities.
