About The Position

TCT Ministries and Affiliates is a faith-based, non-profit Christian organization dedicated to sharing the Gospel and serving others with integrity, excellence, and compassion. We are seeking a seasoned, mission-driven financial leader to serve as Vice President of Accounting. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting executive who is energized by building, scaling, and leading teams, and who aspires to grow into a broader Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role over time. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capability, and a heart for ministry—viewing financial stewardship as a calling. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial excellence, accountability, and long-term sustainability in support of TCT’s mission. Job Summary: The Vice President of Accounting oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance functions while remaining hands-on with day-to-day activities. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards within the Sage accounting system and across the organization. The VP of Accounting provides strategic leadership, drives process improvements, and prepares the accounting function for future growth, including potential progression to a CFO-level role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Experience in nonprofit, ministry, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to connect financial data to organizational goals.
  • Hands-on, solutions-oriented approach with comfort operating at both tactical and strategic levels.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit, ministry, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting policies and GAAP.
  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are current, accurate, and properly classified.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and present financial statements, analyses, and variance explanations to executive leadership.
  • Analyze financial performance and trends, identifying risks, opportunities, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and asset disposals.
  • Lead and coordinate annual audits, serving as the primary accounting liaison with external auditors.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Oversee payroll accounting entries and benefits-related accruals, as needed.
  • Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, planning, and operational decision-making.
  • Optimize accounting systems and processes (Sage).
