The Vice President, Membership & Mid-level Giving (VP) is a visionary, data-driven, and audience-centered leader responsible for growing KQED’s most critical community of supporters — its members. This role drives strategy and innovation for the full lifecycle of membership and mid-level giving, from acquisition through retention and upgrade, cultivating a deep sense of connection and shared purpose between audiences and KQED’s mission. The VP combines strategic foresight, creativity, and analytical rigor to lead one of the most dynamic membership programs in public media. As both a collaborative partner and innovative problem-solver, the VP will champion audience loyalty and philanthropic support across platforms, using data, experimentation, and storytelling to deepen engagement and expand impact. The VP will play a central role in integrating membership strategy into KQED's unified content approach, ensuring that content verticals include clear membership value propositions and conversions pathways from their inception. The VP will help shape annual and multi-year fundraising plans and will work across departments including development, content, programming, product, marketing, audience intelligence, IT and Finance to ensure membership growth strategies are integrated into KQED’s broader audience and revenue goals. Critical to this role is embedding membership functionality and benefits within KQED's owned digital platforms-- particularly the KQED app and website--creating seamless experiences that reward members and convert engaged users into supporters. The role oversees the membership and mid-level department and directly manages the Executive Director of Member Fundraising & Donor Relations, the Executive Director of Membership Operations, and the Director of Audio Fundraising. KQED envisions a public media organization with a culture that centers on human dignity, equity, and belonging. This will enable us to better serve and reflect the Bay Area through diverse and inclusive storytelling. We value the contributions of marginalized people in society — including Black, Indigenous, and all people of color, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ people — and we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, and we strongly encourage members of these communities to apply.
