The Wright Center is seeking a Vice President of Grants & Strategic Initiatives to serve as a cornerstone of our growth. In this high-impact, client-facing role, you will be the primary architect for programs funded by federal, state, and private sources. You won’t just be "managing grants"—you will be building relationships, fostering innovation, and ensuring that our vital community initiatives have the financial and administrative fuel they need to succeed.

Requirements

  • Mission-oriented; represents the enterprise in a professional manner while demonstrating organizational pride
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Eight - ten years’ experience with grant administration and research experience
  • Minimum of five years’ experience supervising non-profit or grant administration staff
  • Research or grants education and or certification is required
  • Proven management skills and demonstrated strong oral/written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web page administration a plus
  • Experience in grant writing and demonstrated success with grant submissions
  • Ability to follow specific guidelines and expectations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail
  • Maintain composure under stressful conditions
  • Proactive and action-oriented personality; strong sense of pace and urgency
  • Experience working productively as an independent producer and part of a team
  • Experience in health/research grant management required

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Oversee the research of funding streams and lead long-term strategic planning for submissions. You will act as the internal consultant for funding compliance and reporting.
  • Creative Program Design: Facilitate brainstorming sessions with community partners and TWC stakeholders to turn abstract ideas into actionable, funded initiatives.
  • Proposal Mastery: Oversee and co-create comprehensive grant proposals (narratives, budgets, and evaluation plans) for submission via grants.gov, eRA Commons, and other platforms.
  • Operational Transition: Lead the "hand-off" from successful funding to implementation, ensuring operational teams have the framework and transparency needed for project success.
  • Fiscal Stewardship: Serve as the organization’s fiscal officer for grant drawdowns and financial reporting, working in lockstep with the Finance Department and external auditors.
  • Team Development: Co-create an evolving developmental framework for a high-performing grants team, including administrative support, compliance accountants, and technical writers.
