The Role As Genmab continues its transformation into a fully integrated global biotech company, the Head of Total Rewards will architect a future-ready, technology-enabled global rewards strategy that aligns with our purpose, growth ambitions, and values. This leader will combine expertise in executive compensation, global scalability, and digital enablement to create a next-generation total rewards model—anchored in data, automation, and human experience. The role will also build the structures, systems, and shared-service capabilities needed to scale efficiently while maintaining governance, equity, and agility. The location is flexible across Genmab’s global hubs (Princeton, Copenhagen, Utrecht). We have a hybrid model that requires being onsite 60% of the time.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in total rewards, with significant leadership in global, complex organizations.
  • Deep expertise in executive compensation design, governance, and disclosure.
  • Proven success implementing technology, analytics, and automation within HR or total rewards functions.
  • Experience designing shared-service or center of excellence models across geographies.
  • Strong understanding of compensation and benefits regulations across multiple markets.
  • Exceptional ability to influence and communicate at the executive and Board level.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing global teams, fostering capability growth and functional excellence.
  • Proven ability to translate external best practices and market intelligence into actionable strategies tailored to the biotech industry.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Design & Operating Model Define and lead the evolution of Genmab’s total rewards philosophy and structure to support a global, end-to-end biotech organization.
  • Design a modern total rewards operating model that integrates regional teams, shared services, and centers of excellence for consistent global delivery.
  • Drive process standardization and automation to improve quality, transparency, and efficiency.
  • Lead a strategic compensation team responsible for developing forward-looking frameworks, tools, and analytics that enable proactive support to HR Business Partners, Talent, and other COE stakeholders.
  • Ensure the Total Rewards function continuously evolves its offerings to meet the changing needs of a high-growth, science-driven organization.
  • Executive Compensation & Governance Serve as lead advisor to the Board’s Remuneration Committee on executive and equity compensation.
  • Design performance-based and ESG-linked long-term incentive plans aligned with Genmab’s business strategy and culture.
  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and transparency in all executive pay matters.
  • Bring external perspective and best-in-class practices to inform committee discussions and program evolution, ensuring Genmab remains competitive within the biotech and broader life sciences markets.
  • Global Rewards Strategy & Wellbeing Oversee global compensation, benefits, recognition, and mobility programs that balance competitiveness, scalability, and inclusivity.
  • Integrate skills-based pay, internal mobility, and evolving career architectures into the total rewards framework.
  • Evolve wellbeing and flexibility offerings through technology and personalized employee experiences.
  • Champion employee understanding and appreciation of Total Rewards by partnering with Communications and HR to create clear, engaging messaging that connects programs to our purpose, values, and “EVP”.
  • Regularly assess market trends, benchmark data, and emerging innovations to identify opportunities for differentiation and continuous improvement.
  • Technology, Automation & Data Lead implementation of digital total rewards platforms and process automation across compensation, benefits, and equity administration.
  • Establish robust analytics capabilities for pay equity, retention risk, and predictive modeling.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data insights, benchmarking, and feedback loops.
  • Leverage advanced analytics to generate actionable insights for business leaders, enabling data-driven decisions around talent retention, productivity, and performance outcomes.
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement Strengthen global governance structures and ensure alignment with regulatory, financial, and ethical standards.
  • Create transparency and consistency through standardized processes, policies, and data.
  • Build and mentor a global total rewards team with strong analytical and design skills.
