About The Position

As our Vice President for Tax, you will lead the tax function for HireRight and report to the Vice President, Controller. You will be responsible for all global direct and indirect tax reporting and compliance along with tax planning, risk management and tax accounting. You will lead an international team of tax professionals which includes the management of our outsourced vendor partners. You will also be responsible for liaising with our leadership team as well as our third-party advisors. Additionally, you will foster a culture of excellence and collaboration within our tax team. Our VP, Global Tax should have proven experience with domestic, foreign, state and local corporate income tax planning, compliance and audits, indirect tax matters including state and local sales and use tax, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, property tax, and corporate registrations and licenses. Additionally, you will ensure that tax matters are accounted for according to US GAAP and ASC 740.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of tax experience, combination of Big 4 public accounting firm experience and global public company
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience
  • Ideally CPA and Masters in Taxation
  • Proven ability in translating complex tax issues and requirements to people without tax backgrounds
  • Experience with SAP, CorpTax, OneSource, RIA Checkpoint, Bloomberg Tax, Vertex, and PTS
  • Strong team building experience
  • Passionate about process improvement and team member development
  • Exercise senior-level judgment and inspire confidence among Tax Team, senior leaders and stakeholders, internal and external to HireRight
  • Proven ability to define goals and prioritize your and your team’s work in a sophisticated and ambiguous environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and writing skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead tax strategies, assess the tax impact of critical initiatives and lead tax decision making that improve shareholder value
  • Oversee efficient and accurate global direct and indirect tax compliance
  • Drive efficient and accurate tax processes including automation and tax specific technology tools
  • Ensure documentation and appropriate support for technical positions
  • Periodic communication to the Board of Directors
  • Ensure accurate tax accounting under FAS 5 and ASC 740
  • Ensure each Tax Team member has a development plan and continues to grow in their career
