About The Position

Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK) is seeking a strategic, innovative and results-oriented Vice President, Global Environmental, Health & Safety to provide the global leadership and strategy for the company’s EHS function worldwide. Reporting to the SVP, Chief Supply Chain Officer, the VP, Global EHS will ensure best-in-class performance across all regions, business units and operational sites.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience, including global strategy development, program implementation, and management of large, diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop senior EHS professionals and cross-functional teams in a complex, matrixed global organization.
  • Proven track record of partnering with executive leadership to drive EHS performance and culture change, especially within manufacturing, plant, and distribution center environments.
  • Experience developing and deploying global processes, systems, and digital tools to serve a broad range of internal and external customers.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with a track record of using data to inform global decision-making and drive measurable improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS Management, Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science/Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging at the Board and C-suite level.
  • Deep knowledge of global EHS regulations, standards, and management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001), with experience implementing and harmonizing these systems worldwide.
  • Experience managing EHS aspects of international M&A activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic EHS leadership for all manufacturing operations, plants, and distribution centers around the globe, ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship are consistently applied.
  • Lead and develop a global team of EHS professionals, fostering a high-performance, growth-oriented culture.
  • Set and execute global EHS strategic plans and goals to mitigate risks across all regions—North America, Latin America, EMEA, APAC, and beyond.
  • Lead the integration of digital tools and platforms to enhance health and safety management, including incident reporting, risk assessments and compliance tracking.
  • Champion the adoption of digital technologies to proactively monitor and improve workplace safety.
  • Serve as the primary EHS executive interface with the C-suite and Board, regularly presenting strategy, performance updates, and global EHS reviews.
  • Provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and guidance to business and EHS leaders on regulatory compliance, emerging risks, sustainability, and best practices impacting operations worldwide.
  • Leverage advanced data analytics to identify global EHS trends, risks, and opportunities for injury prevention, collaborating with senior leaders to define objectives and drive continuous improvement aligned with corporate goals.
  • Oversee global EHS performance through audits, benchmarking, and data-driven insights, ensuring transparency and accountability across all sites and operations.
  • Champion a customer-centric, continuous improvement mindset, ensuring timely and effective support to all global sites and making operational excellence a priority.
  • Lead hazard and risk recognition and mitigation initiatives globally, embedding a behavior-based safety culture and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of EHS data and assurance processes worldwide; drive harmonization and standardization of reporting and verification.
  • Direct and support the resolution of EHS enforcement matters worldwide, collaborating with legal, operations, and regional EHS teams to manage regulatory interactions, notices, claims, and penalties.
  • Oversee EHS due diligence and integration for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures globally, ensuring seamless alignment with SBD’s EHS standards and values.
  • Build global EHS capability by developing and delivering training, mentoring, and professional development programs to ensure all regions have the necessary technical and functional expertise.
  • Drive a “Safety Always” culture by engaging leaders and employees at all levels and regions, inspiring commitment to EHS excellence and shared accountability.
  • Guide the annual EHS budget planning process for all regions and manage the global EHS function’s budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Flexibility is required to respond to international emergencies and incidents; global travel required.
