About The Position

The Vice President of Columbia Analytics and EDAI AI/GenAI Strategy is a leadership role responsible for driving data-driven growth and AI-enabled innovation across the Enterprise Data, Analytics, and Insights (EDAI) organization. The role leads the EDAI Columbia analytics team and sets the strategic direction for AI and Generative AI across EDAI, in close partnership with the Enterprise AI leader. By proactively identifying new opportunities and innovative applications of data, analytics, and AI, the VP translates advanced capabilities into actionable insights and scalable solutions that strengthen go to market effectiveness, enterprise decision making, and measurable business impact, while inspiring teams and senior stakeholders to adopt intelligent, data driven strategies.

Requirements

  • Masters degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years experience
  • Previous people leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical concepts and techniques; (e.g. skilled in linear algebra.)
  • Experience conducting hands-on analytics projects using advanced statistical methods such as generalized regression models, Bayesian methods, random forest, gradient boosting, neural networks, machine learning, clustering, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience with statistical programming (Python, SQL etc.) & data visualization software in a data-rich environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving business partnerships in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to present/communicate complex, technical materials in a way that facilitates decision making and drives outcomes; ability to communicate to less technical partners.
  • Proven ability to apply both strategic and analytic techniques to provide business solutions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and influence effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD Degree in Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering, or similar
  • Experience with Cloud Computing Environments (including container creation, management & deployment), etc..
  • 5+ years in people leadership role.
  • Familiarity with Gen AI capabilities, Observability etc.

Responsibilities

  • Engage collaboratively with senior business leaders and/or analysts to provide analytical thought leadership and support for business problems.
  • Identify and interpret business needs, define high-level business requirements, strategy, technical risks, and scope.
  • Develop, document, and communicate business-driven analytic solutions and capabilities, translating modeling and analytic output into understandable and actionable business knowledge.
  • Lead process with business partners to agree on analytic strategy and support business in embedding insights into work-flows and driving adoption.
  • Identify, develop and implement complex analytical solutions leveraging tools such as predictive modeling, advanced machine learning techniques, simulation, optimization solutions, etc.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to team of analytic resources.
  • Align strategic objectives and tactical demands and translate into goals for the team.
  • Conduct performance management, hiring, coaching/development, goal writing and 1:1 meetings.
  • Champion ongoing expansion of data science expertise and credentials by keeping up with industry best practices, developing new skills, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure adherence to data and model governance standards that are set and enforced by industry standards and/or enterprise and business unit data governance polices and leaders.
  • Define and lead the strategic roadmap for AI and generative AI, ensuring alignment with business priorities, risk frameworks, and shareholder value.
  • Foster strong partnerships across Enterprise AI Strategy, IA, Technology, Risk and support the AI Leadership council to help advance AI mandate for the firm.
  • Oversee and manage dataset creation including data extraction, derived and dependent variable creation, and data quality control processes for analytics, model development, and validation.
  • May monitor execution of analytical solutions, including criteria specification, data sourcing, segmentation, analytics, selection, delivery, and back-end data capture results.
