About The Position

Berclair Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary clinic serving Berclair and the surrounding Memphis, TN, area, providing emergency care, dental, surgical, general health support, and wellness checkups. With over 60 years of experience, the clinic specializes in caring for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, and pocket pets, offering preventative care, nutritional support, and urgent care. The team, including experienced veterinarians Dr. Steve Snow, Dr. Allison Souvigney, and Dr. Syron Oleson, along with highly trained technicians, aims to provide high-quality pet care in a comfortable, family-friendly environment. Services also include grooming, boarding, medication refills, vaccines, and dental work, with specializations in dermatology, gastroenterology, endocrine diseases, and internal medicine for small and exotic pets. The hospital utilizes innovative techniques and state-of-the-art technology, including ultrasound, digital x-ray, and lab work for diagnostics. The Kennel Technician is responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients in the hospital and boarding facility. This includes cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding, walking dogs, and medicating patients. The role also involves restocking hospital supplies, assisting with post-operative patients, and helping doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams. Proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues is required. Training to clean and sterilize surgical instruments may also be provided.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods
  • Proper methods of animal restraint
  • Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
  • Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc)
  • Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals
  • Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job
