Animal Medical Clinic of Vicksburg is a mixed animal practice that opened a new hospital in July of 2006. The facility features a larger waiting room, 5 exam rooms, an expanded treatment area, a state-of-the-art Surgical Suite, and an ICU. It also provides more spacious rooms for boarding, an exercise yard, and an indoor large animal treatment area with stalls, aiming to offer better facilities to patients and clients. The clinic provides a range of services including preventive care, internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, in-house lab for bloodwork, radiology, and ultrasound. The Kennel Technician is responsible for the comprehensive care of patients within both the hospital and boarding facility, which includes feeding, medicating, and cleaning. Key duties involve general cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding and walking dogs, and administering medications. The role also requires restocking hospital supplies, assisting with post-operative patients, and supporting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams. Accurate recordkeeping for medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues that arise during an animal's stay is essential. Training for cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments may also be provided.
