About The Position

Berclair Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary clinic serving Berclair and the surrounding Memphis, TN, area, providing emergency care, dental, surgical, and general health support, as well as regular wellness checkups. The clinic has been offering comprehensive healthcare to animals for over 60 years, specializing in dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, and pocket pets, with services including preventative care, nutritional support, and urgent care. The hospital is committed to using innovative techniques and state-of-the-art technology, offering comprehensive health services like ultrasound, digital x-ray, and lab work. The Veterinary Kennel Technician is responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients in the hospital and boarding facility.

Requirements

Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods
Proper methods of animal restraint
Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc)
Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals
Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions
Understand and carry out oral and written directions
Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job
Must be available weekends and some holidays

Responsibilities

Care of our patients in the hospital and boarding facility
Feeding of our patients in the hospital and boarding facility
Medicating of our patients in the hospital and boarding facility
Cleaning of our patients in the hospital and boarding facility
Cleaning
Laundry
Bathing
Walking dogs
Restocking hospital supplies
Helping with post-operative patients
Assisting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams
Proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior and any issue that may arise while the animal is in our care
Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
