About the Job: As a Veterinary Assistant in the ophthalmology department responsibilities include: Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visit Participating with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures Providing empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient's hospitalization Maintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care of all patients Proper handling, completion of paperwork, and submission of laboratory samples. Produce quality radiographs safely and efficiently Assist and restrain patients for special procedures and treatments Provide support with restraining then prepping our surgical patients for surgery Assist in the operating room, including working with the highly specialized ophthalmology equipment. Assist with stocking and maintaining ophthalmology supplies and medications Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting required. Recent graduates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology will be considered.
  • Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and working knowledge of radiographic techniques
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required
  • Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected
  • Confident with solid foundational assistant skills

Responsibilities
