Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician

W e are looking for: Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician The Ophthalmology team is unique in that it specializes in appointment-based patient care , as well as assisting and preparing for surgeries. Ophthalmology is a fast-paced service with a high caseload , alternating between appointment and surgery days. You could assist with tonometry, corneal stains, Schirmer tear testing, as well as TPRs and chemical ablations.
Requirements
- State Registered Veterinary Technician license
- Prior veterinary experience , previous o phthalmology experience desired
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Prioritize caseload and patient care and p repare and check charts for appropriate paperwork
- Restrain and assist during examinations
- Obtain vitals and perform ocular testing
- Assist with Venipuncture, IV Catheter placement and surgical procedures
- Potential for additional training in a nesthesia and s edation
- Prepare, call in or create written prescriptions
- Coordinate interdepartmental communication, services, patient transfers and consults
