About The Position

The Vertex CGT Analytical Development Co-Op program is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related fields. We are seeking a graduate-level co-op to support method development for single-cell proteomics to characterize cell therapy products. CGT AD supports a variety of projects within cell and gene therapy for process characterization and other needs. Our team within CGT AD primarily uses LC-MS. The major focus of this co-op will be on single-cell proteomics. Key duties include optimization of CellenONE methods to sort cells and prepare them for proteomics analysis and the use of TMT and label-free based methods to acquire proteomics data. Methods for data analysis will be developed in conjunction with other team members. Single-cell methods will support the efforts toward multi-omics characterization of cell therapy products.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an Doctorate program in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another related field. 3rd year students and above are preferred.
  • Experience with LC-MS systems, ideally nanoLC and Thermo instruments, is required.
  • Programming experience, particularly in R, is preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2026
  • You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January – June 2026
