About The Position
The Vehicle Technician I is responsible for providing service essential support within the automotive service environment, focusing on preventative maintenance and tire services. This role serves as a crucial support function to line mechanics and service center staff, ensuring efficient and effective vehicle maintenance. Vehicle Technician I may be required to work in any of the other Automotive Service areas. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to perform tire repairs on a wide variety of vehicles
- Skill in using tools of the trade, including tire repair equipment
- Knowledge of automotive shop procedures
- Ability to provide basic hand tools, including basic filter wrenches
- Ability to use computers and fleet maintenance software to regularly record information for assigned work orders
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Conducts lube and filter changes on school buses and other LCPS vehicles
- Removes, installs, dismounts, mounts, and balances tires on vehicles; performs minor repairs on tires and tubes; installs and removes tire chains
- Makes road calls for tire service
- Maintains readiness of tire service vehicles
- Maintains tire inventory and tire banks
- Records labor and notes for assigned work orders using fleet maintenance software
- Maintains a clean work area and assists with shop cleaning as needed
- Assists and fills in for other Automotive Service Technicians as needed
