About The Position

Our Vehicle Mechanics perform work under supervision. Type of work expected: Repair, and maintenance of buses and related automotive equipment under supervision. Assists and takes direction from higher level technicians when needed. Strives to stay active, alert, and have a willingness to learn. Reports to- Fleet Manager, Shop Foreman, and Lead technicians. About Denali National Park & Preserve and Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture: Summer days in Alaska stretch nearly endlessly, with up to 20 hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. Spanning 6.2 million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road—4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Doyon Limited and Aramark have teamed up in a Joint Venture as the Denali National Park & Preserve's Concessionaire. Open May to September, our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; The National Park Service. By road, our 100 Blue Bird Bus Fleet takes guests past the 15-mile public access point daily during summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp where few people have set foot. Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • One to two years’ experience in the automotive and or heavy diesel field mechanical repair field.
  • Some experience in combination with a technical school also accepted.
  • Experience in all areas of preventive maintenance.
  • Experience in operation of various tools and equipment as required.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Possess a set of basic automotive mechanic hand tools and storage cabinet.
  • This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and replaces seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, and other body components and assemblies.
  • Changes oil, filters, lubricates chassis, and other general preventative maintenance repairs as well as any other required inspections.
  • Performs annual DOT inspections per federal and Aramark guidelines under guidance of experienced technician.
  • Mounts and dismounts tires on buses as well as support equipment
  • Operates battery chargers, welding equipment, and machines required for performing repair and maintenance of motor vehicles.
  • Assists higher level technicians when needed.
  • Assists in cleaning and organization of the shop.
  • Operates a desktop computer to complete work orders and to charge out parts as required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Employee is responsible for general knowledge of corporate environmental policies and procedures and how they relate to their job functions.
  • Employee is responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS Environmental objectives and targets will be communicated by dept. managers for each dept. during EMS
  • Employee will have no less than 1 performance review per season to include an evaluation of performance standards as they relate to work instructions addressing their department’s environmental aspects.  Employee will be aware of environmental objectives and targets within their department and how the objectives and targets affect their job performance.
