The Varsity Boys’ Volleyball Coach is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. This role involves adhering to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, modeling nondiscriminatory practices, and taking full responsibility for the team's conduct and the athletic program's philosophy. Key duties include supervising the use, issuance, return, cleaning, inventory, and storage of equipment, uniforms, and supplies, as well as submitting requests to the Athletic Director. The coach is expected to establish positive relationships with coaches, athletes, parents, and community members, and attend various meetings called by the Athletic Director or Building Principal, including league, section, and coaches’ association meetings. Responsibilities also encompass conducting organizational meetings for athletes to explain tryouts, selection methods, cutting procedures, and codes of conduct. The coach will prepare and submit scrimmage and non-league contest schedules, follow established procedures for athlete injuries, and manage initial and final rosters. Reporting scores to news media, notifying staff of cancellations or incidents, and supervising team members until they have left the premises are also part of the role. The position requires completing end-of-season reports and complying with all relevant policies and procedures. The coach will make team-specific decisions in line with established policies, escalating broader issues to the Athletic Director. Assessing player skills, monitoring performance, modeling sports-like behavior, and maintaining appropriate conduct towards all stakeholders are essential. Participation in special activities like parent’s night, banquets, and award nights is expected. Administrative tasks include distributing and maintaining eligibility forms and emergency data cards. Additionally, the coach is encouraged to attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to enhance coaching performance and perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Principal.
