About The Position

Key member of the Value+ Processing Team who has a drive for excellence and is a self-starter, possess strong cross-functional influencing skills and is adaptable to new systems and processes. The Sales Engineer will function as the main interface with customers while marketing and selling SSAB steel products in support of company goals. Essential Functions Interpret and clarify customer provided materials such as blueprints, CAD files, and specifications Analyze tolerances, materials, and geometric dimensioning that will guide supply chain choices Collect and analyze data to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture metal products and assemblies Utilize internal production processes to meet customer quality and delivery requirements Negotiate labor and delivery options both internally and/or utilizing a vendor base on a part level basis Identify quality needs and plans such as PPAP, first article, recurring inspection, or sample based on customer communicated requirements Analyze customer drawings, develop processing times, and utilize nesting capabilities Manage customer specific inventory Manage costing structures for efficient quoting of opportunities Evaluate sales proposals to ensure accuracy and consistency with SSAB’s quality and safety standards Develop and maintain a clear understanding of customer needs Present solutions to prospective customers and win orders as well as identify additional sales opportunities with existing customers Investigate and resolve claims issues Notify customers of any and all price changes and surcharges Communication Anticipate customer needs and resolve customer issues Create and submit required reports in a timely manner Maintain ongoing dialogue with SSAB shipping, credit, purchasing, scheduling, and quality departments in order to ensure quality customer service and product

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of Processing & Estimation sales experience in a related product field
  • Advanced and highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Blueprint reading and/or CAD and drafting experience
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Basic financial acumen in developing cost build ups and resale price recommendations
  • Metals and part manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge of geometry, strong math skills, and a technical aptitude
  • Experience in drawing interpretation (tolerances, materials, and processes)
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, with strong personal integrity and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience

Nice To Haves

  • CNC programming or estimating experience a plus
  • Knowledge of SSAB products, services, processes, and capabilities
