Lead the user experience design strategy for mission-critical public safety solutions that support 911 call takers, emergency dispatchers, law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and public safety agencies. Manage and mentor a team of UX/UI designers focused on delivering intuitive, high-performance experiences for dispatch centers, patrol officers, mobile field responders, and command staff. Oversee design for integrated product suites including RMS (Records Management Systems), mobile apps for first responders, real-time situational awareness platforms, and digital evidence systems. Conduct field research with public safety professionals, including ride-alongs, station visits, and shift observations, to gain first-hand understanding of their needs and operational realities. Translate complex emergency workflows, high-stakes communications, and regulatory requirements into simple, reliable, and context-aware interfaces. Build and maintain scalable design systems optimized for rugged, responsive, and accessible use across mobile, desktop, and vehicle-mounted platforms. Ensure adherence to public sector usability, security, and accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1, Section 508, and CJIS compliance. Partner with product, engineering, and implementation teams to ensure the user voice is prioritized throughout the development lifecycle. Facilitate design reviews, feedback sessions, and usability testing with emergency communications centers and public safety personnel. Create data-driven frameworks to measure user satisfaction, adoption, and operational efficiency of design outcomes. Present UX strategies and design concepts to internal stakeholders, government customers, public safety boards, and procurement teams. Support cross-functional alignment by collaborating with compliance, information security, legal, and government affairs teams. Advocate for user-centered design as a means to enhance safety, reduce cognitive load in high-stress scenarios, and improve outcomes for frontline responders. Stay informed on evolving public safety technologies, NG911 initiatives, digital transformation in policing, and civic tech trends. 5% domestic and international travel. Telecommuting is permitted from anywhere within the United States.
